For the last two nights I've been eaten alive by mosquitos while asleep. They don't bother me when I'm awake, but when I'm asleep, they attack. It's extremely irritating and I'm forced awake at unholy hours with large itchy welts all over my body. What am I supposed to do, douse myself with insect repellant before I go to bed? When I finally got out of bed this morning, itchy and pissed off, I walked into the living room to turn on the radio and felt a crunch under my right foot. Apparently the cats knocked my glasses off the desk at some point during the night (or else a whole bunch of mosquitos who really have it in for me used their combined strength to shove my glasses over the edge of the desk). I brought them to the optician on my way to work and he popped the lens (which is now chipped) back into the frames (which appear to be fine). However, it seems that he put the lens in upside down (oh, the perils of diamond-shaped lenses with no clear top and bottom). Anyway, in a completely unrelated matter, I've exchanged some emails with the folks over at the American Journal of Print who publish stories concerning private preoccupations. They seem a good sort, so check them out.
