I'm getting a small raise at work. Kinda neat. I've also just said no to a big freelance job because I can finally recognize when I just don't have any more time left. I'm going to lay off the freelance work for a while, once I've finished with the stuff currently on my plate. I want to spend my summer evenings sitting at outdoor cafes, not at my computer.

So which shocks you more, the new colors or the fact that there's actually something current to read here? I'm impressed that there are even people who have regularly checked this dreary space. I was hoping the new look would inspire me to write, but it isn't really working, and I'll probably change the colors again sometime soon to something less...citrus-y. I apologize for the lack of activity. I can't seem to find the space between writing that's expository and writing that's vague and poetic in a cryptic, inaccessible way that, frankly, I got my fill of a decade ago. Does that even make any sense? Eh, whatever.

Rod, hi! what's up? My friend Dave, whom I'm sure you remember, is moving to LA. In fact, he might already be there. I've been a little out of touch myself (ok, hugely out of touch) but I heard this news through the proverbial grapevine. I was thinking I could put you two in touch if there was interest. I need to find out how to contact him.

I'm reading The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood and you know what? It's really good.
